The Pittsburgh Steelers may have a future star on their hands at the quarterback position.<\/div>\n

Many expected the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0to take a\u00a0quarterback\u00a0in the 2025\u00a0NFL Draft, but not many thought they would wait as long as they did.<\/p>\n

They drafted\u00a0Ohio State\u00a0field general Will Howard with the 185th pick in the sixth round of the draft, and veteran QB Mason Rudolph thinks that the rookie has a lot of good things going for him.<\/p>\n

“He’s been great,” Rudolph said in a recent interview with\u00a0Missi Matthews. “He’s a nice guy, first of all. He’s a good guy to share the quarterback room with… He is athletic and he throws the ball well… I think he’s got a lot of tools and I’ll be excited to go to work with him.”<\/p>\n

Some, including former\u00a0NFL\u00a0coach Jon Gruden, have compared the 6-4, 236 pound rookie to\u00a0Buffalo Bills’ MVP winner\u00a0Josh Allen, who himself was not all that in his rookie season.<\/p>\n

If Howard can live up to even half of that comparison, the Steelers have something to look forward to.<\/p>\n

In his final season with the Buckeyes this past season, Howard finished with 4,010 passing yards and 35 touchdowns on 73 percent completion, all three of which led the\u00a0Big Ten Conference.<\/p>\n

The Steelers’ current starting quarterback is Rudolph, with no\u00a0Aaron Rodgers\u00a0decision seeming to be imminent just yet.<\/p>\n

But eventually?<\/p>\n

If Howard can prove that he has all of the tools that Rudolph says he does, he could have an opportunity to take the veteran’s job as Pittsburgh’s QB1.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
