Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer<\/p>\n

Novak Djokovic continues to break records and his latest win at Roland Garros equalled a Grand Slam record held by the great Roger Federer.<\/p>\n

Djokovic won his battle with Federer as he will end his career with more major titles than Federer, more weeks at No 1 in the ATP Rankings than the Swiss maestro, while he also leads their head-to-head record.<\/p>\n

Now he has equalled an epic Federer record after his 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win against Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic.<\/p>\n

The victory ensured Djokovic has managed the round of 16 in at least two Grand Slam Men\u2019s Singles events across 20 seasons, ensuring he jointly holds that record with Federer during the Open Era.<\/p>\n

Djokovic\u2019s 99th victory at Roland Garros saw him equal his best mark at a single Grand Slam tournament.<\/p>\n

The Serbian has also clinched 99 victories at the Australian Open, where he is a record 10-time champion.<\/p>\n

He went to suggest he will struggle to sleep after playing under the lights at Roland Garros, as he clearly prefers playing in the day session.<\/p>\n

\u201cNight sessions are always different, you know, they\u2019re always louder, the people are always more excited. Everything is very loud and different from the day session,\u201d said Djokovic, as he won his match on a night when Paris Saint-Germain\u2019s soccer team won the Champions League for the first time, sparking scenes of celebration across the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew that I\u2019m going to have to be scheduled once to play at night, and it\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fine, you know, I mean, I would be watching football for sure. Right now, we are in Paris. They won it for the first time, so I don\u2019t know how we\u2019re gonna all go back to our hotels!<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be quite a journey, quite an adventure, but I think we are in for a long celebration and probably not much sleep tonight. So it\u2019s a fun night to be in Paris, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n

Djokovic also spoke in his press conference about what Roland Garros means to him, after he secured another victory on the red clay.<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially with what\u2019s happened the last few times I\u2019ve been here,\u201d he said, speaking through an interpreter.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy fifth Olympic Games and eventually I got the gold medal, very strong emotions because of that. The strongest emotions I\u2019ve felt on the tennis court.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time I step onto this court I\u2019m playing for history. It\u2019s incredible, the sport that has given me everything in my life.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo carry on being able to play for everyone in the stadium tonight shows how much I do love this sport. I want to give back the love and emotions that I experience when I\u2019m playing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad that he played so well and he deserves another round of applause.\u201d<\/p>\n

Djokovic was not at his brilliant best against Misolic, but he didn\u2019t need to be.<\/p>\n

The bigger challenges lie ahead for Djokovic in Paris, but he will be highly confident of beating Britain\u2019s Cameron Norrie in his next match after beating the British player in Geneva the week before the Grand Slam in Paris.<\/p>\n
