Former Alabama Crimson Tide star quarterback Joe Milton is\u00a0ready to begin the newest chapter\u00a0in his still-young NFL career. Now with the Dallas Cowboys, Milton has a shot at becoming the team\u2019s QB2, or as the main backup option for Dak Prescott, who is working his way back to full form following an injury debacle.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Milton started his pro career when he was\u00a0selected in the sixth round\u00a0(193rd overall) of the 2024 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. However, he only appeared in a game for the Pats in his rookie season, with New England operating mostly with Drake Maye or Jacoby Brissett under center.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Milton recently opened up about the time hea learned of his trade to Dallas.<\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cWas I surprised? Yes,\u201d he said (via\u00a0Patrik Walker of the Cowboys\u2019 official website). \u201cI kind of woke up around, like, 7 o\u2019clock, to a call and I knew I was getting traded.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only thing I could have done, well, the only thing I did at that moment was to thank God,\u201d Milton said while wearing a trademark smile. \u201cComing here was a blessing. I didn\u2019t know it was going to be here. \u2026 I didn\u2019t know where I was going to end up.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

With the Cowboys, Milton is expected to compete against Will Grier for the QB2 role.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Milton\u2019s trade to the Cowboys, while not ideal for his QB1 dreams, offers him a chance to develop in a new football environment and behind a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback.<\/p>\n
