FRISCO – The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0need to get their catchphrases straight.<\/p>\n

And while they’re at it, they need to call Micah Parsons’ agent.<\/p>\n

This offseason, Jerry and Stephen Jones obviously shifted into a different gear from where this franchise was a year ago.<\/p>\n

No, the\u00a0Cowboys’ 82-year-old owner didn’t go “wildcattin”’ as was the case decades ago.<\/p>\n

But entering the 2024 season, Dallas let 11 starters\/rotational players leave via free agency … and barely lifted a finger to replace them.<\/p>\n

And they did so, by the way, on the heels of Jerry announcing theatrically that the franchise was “all in” on chasing a title.<\/p>\n

It was – much to the chagrin of Cowboys Nation – empty gibberish.<\/p>\n

The Dallas front office wasn’t “all in” in any traditional sense.<\/p>\n

“Mail it in” is more like it.<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to this offseason.<\/p>\n

Dallas has acquired a dozen veterans, most with starter credentials. The Cowboys made four trades, capped by a successful plan to land a No. 2 receiver to complement star\u00a0CeeDee Lamb\u00a0resulting in George Pickens rolling into town.<\/p>\n

Is that “all in”? Nope. Not yet.<\/p>\n

A source tells CowboysCountry.com that while the Joneses and Parsons spoke face-to-face at least three times, with the parties hovering around the idea of a five-year, $200 million contract that would make Parsons one of the highest-paid players in\u00a0NFL history … the Joneses have yet to make official follow-up contact with agent David Mulugheta.<\/p>\n

One key here: The player can talk contract with a team official; that’s CBA-legal. But once the player informs the team that it must go through the agent?<\/p>\n

The team must do exactly that.<\/p>\n

And it’s now been six weeks since Parsons issued that request to the Joneses.<\/p>\n

How can the Cowboys claim to be “all in”?<\/p>\n

Weirdly, Stephen has slapped back at the use of the phrase.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t buy into all that. Name one person that isn\u2019t\u00a0all in<\/em>,\u201d Jones said via SI. \u201cI\u2019d hate the fans to hear their owner say that people aren\u2019t all in, when you\u2019re competing in the NFL.<\/p>\n

“I mean, it\u2019s kind of a joke. Every year we line up, we\u2019re moving our chips in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yeah, but … umm … errrr … Stephen, last year, you did not “move your chips in.” And the “all in” phrase came from your own boss, your own dad.<\/p>\n

And now? The true sign of “we’re in business 24\/7” as Stephen likes to say … the true sign of “all in,” as Jerry said … would be for the Cowboys to have a real philosophy match up with their unreal phraseology. …<\/p>\n
