The days of No. 14 shredding DBs on back-shoulder fades and making insane one-handed, highlight-reel grabs in the Steel City are over \u2014 as his new chapter, complete with a fresh number, begins in Dallas.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Pickens was spotted wearing No. 13 at\u00a0Cowboys\u00a0OTAs \u2014 and when reporters asked about his numerical choice, this is what\u00a0he had to say:<\/p>\n

“Nothing’s like really finalized right now. It’s a whole bunch of numbers. My guy [Traeshon Holden], he’s got on No. 7 \u2014 and [Trevon Diggs] is that number. You see what I mean? Everybody’s working right now.”<\/p>\n

If Pickens doesn’t end up wearing No. 13, perhaps a switch back to No. 1 from his days as a\u00a0Georgia\u00a0Bulldog is in order. He was unable to wear the number in Pittsburgh, as it is unofficially retired out of respect for the\u00a0Steelers’ all-time leading scorer, K Gary Anderson.<\/p>\n

Pickens would likely need to cough up some financial incentive for the number, as Cowboys 2022 third-round WR Jalen Tolbert currently owns it.<\/p>\n

With reports suggesting the Cowboys plan to let Pickens test free agency in 2026, his jersey number might be the least of his concerns. One thing\u2019s certain \u2014 the former disgruntled Steeler is out to prove his value in Dallas this season.<\/p>\n
