Hulu<\/p>\n<p>Elisabeth Moss\u00a0had one of her wildest dreams come true when she asked\u00a0Taylor Swift\u00a0to use one of her songs on\u00a0<em>The Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The actress and executive producer, 42, revealed how she requested the use of Swift\u2019s \u201cLook What You Made Me Do (Taylor\u2019s Version)\u201d for episode 9 of the hit Hulu series\u2019 sixth season, which aired last month.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When asked what the Grammy winner thought of the song being featured in the show \u2014 during a pivotal moment when the handmaids walked in formation to stage an uprising against the Commanders led by June Osborne (Moss) \u2014 she responded, &#8220;Honestly, the feedback was her saying yes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Moss then revealed that she convinced Swift, 35, to allow the show to use the song with a letter about how her music has impacted her and her costars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was really, truly such an honor that she took the time to read \u2014 you know I wrote her a letter about what I felt like the song meant for the episode, and her music means to me and our cast so the fact that she said yes to me was all the feedback that I needed,&#8221; she explained.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-subheading text-utility-300\"><iframe class=\"ql-video\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nXlAUkd7zqE?showinfo=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After the episode\u2019s premiere, Moss told\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em>\u00a0that using one of Swift\u2019s tracks in the dystopian drama was something she&#8217;d had been longing to do.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I\u2019m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,\u201d she said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaylor has been such an inspiration to me personally,\u201d she continued. \u201cAs a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it\u2019s such an honor to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The actress proved her Swiftie status last year when she attended the singer&#8217;s Eras Tour stop in Toronto alongside her\u00a0<em>Handmaid&#8217;s Tale<\/em>\u00a0costar Bradley Whitford and his wife Amy Landecker, sharing a snap of the trio posing with\u00a0Mariska Hargitay\u00a0at the show.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The use of \u201cLook What You Made Me Do (Taylor\u2019s Version)\u201d \u2014\u00a0which was featured on Swift\u2019s\u00a0album\u00a0<em>Reputation<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 came more than a week before the artist announced she now\u00a0owns her masters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/-gjgJS6y1FUKiADfCkfLF3cMw0k=\/4000x0\/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(749x0:751x2):format(webp)\/taylor-swift-060525-b42ba52d82754f838652867210e24c2f.jpg\" alt=\"Taylor Swift in The 'Look What You Made Me Do' Music Video\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Taylor Swift in the &#8220;Look What You Made Me Do&#8221; What about Rep TV? Full transparency: I haven&#8217;t even re-recorded a quarter of it,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThe\u00a0<em>Reputation<\/em>\u00a0album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it. All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To be perfectly honest, it&#8217;s the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn&#8217;t be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or the photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off.
