With the news of\u00a0Aaron Rodgers officially joining the Pittsburgh Steelers,\u00a0the veteran quarterback is looking to get back to his winning ways in the twilight years of his career. While the\u00a0decision seemed to be Rodgers playing for the Steelers\u00a0or retirement, former quarterback\u00a0Ben Roethlisberger would have his theory on when the signal-caller will hang up his boots.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his podcast titled \u201cFootbahlin,\u201d he spoke about Rodgers joining his long-time team and mentioned\u00a0how he believes 2025 will be the final year of the 41-year-old’s career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s got much more after this year,\u201d Roethlisberger said. \u201cI think this might be it for him \u2014 personally, I have no reason \u2014 you could ask, \u2018Well, how do you know?\u2019 I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m just guessing in terms of you coming off an Achilles [tear]. Coming off my elbow [injury], my first year back, I felt like I was 100. I wasn\u2019t even \u2014 you don\u2019t realize you\u2019re not 100 until the next year when you are 100.\u201d<\/p>\n

As\u00a0Rodgers will work with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin\u00a0in preparing for the team to have an explosive offense this upcoming season, it is important to note the health of the aging player. In 2023, which was the first season with the New York Jets, Rodgers would suffer from a torn Achilles tendon early in the first game of the season, but bounced back and started every game in 2024.<\/p>\n

Still, Roethlisberger would have concerns about the long-term health of Rodgers.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to feel better, but it doesn\u2019t mean that he\u2019s going to have two or three years left,\u201d Roethlisberger said. \u201cI think this might be his last go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another aspect Roethlisberger ponders is how much free rein Rodgers will have over the offense, as there has been speculation that Pittsburgh will be more strict.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way you can tell Aaron Rodgers you can\u2019t check the line of scrimmage,\u201d Roethlisberger said. \u201cI was told that they told Russ[ell Wilson] that he couldn\u2019t. They are a different player, I get that. But I can\u2019t imagine that he\u2019s going to be like, \u2018Hey, Aaron, you run what I call every time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

At any rate, the Steelers are looking to improve after finishing with a 10-7 record last season, which put them second in the AFC North.
