The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys<\/a>\u00a0have been searching for a true number two wide receiver to help out quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott<\/a>\u00a0and wide receiver\u00a0CeeDee Lamb<\/a>. Dallas decided to trade away its third-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver\u00a0George Pickens.<\/a><\/p>\n

Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He was a second-round selection (52nd overall pick) by Pittsburgh in the 2022 NFL Draft from the Georgia Bulldogs. Pickens is only 24 years old and maybe he will be able to help out the Cowboys offense during the 2025 NFL season.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com talked to different executives across the league about which moves some of the executives liked during the offseason. One of the biggest moves during the offseason was Dallas acquiring Pickens in a trade. One coach in the division\u00a0said,\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDealing with CeeDee [Lamb] and him opens things up for them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys offense will operate with Lamb and Pickens as the 1-2 punch. Will Lamb see as many targets as he has been getting, or will that number drop down? It will be interesting to see how that will play out for them. However, another AFC personnel man\u00a0said,<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll be a big piece there. When he\u2019s covered, he\u2019s really open. I know the concerns are there, but I think having an already established passing game with veterans to help him along, and the fact he\u2019s in a contract year, will help keep him in line. If you can tap into what he can do fully, his major ability will shine through.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pickens during the 2024 NFL season caught 59 passes for 900 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 15.3 yards per reception. He was targeted 103 times. Pickens was catching passes from Justin Fields and Russell Wilson last season with Pittsburgh. Prescott is a better quarterback than either of those two. Despite acquiring Pickens in a trade, there is a chance that the Cowboys may not improve from having a 6-11 record they had in 2024 also.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
