After a failed two-year experiment in New York, the\u00a0Jets\u00a0moved on from\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Aaron Rodgers\u00a0this offseason.<\/p>\n

It only took the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0one season to realize the mistake they made with\u00a0Justin Fields\u00a0under center. Or did it?<\/p>\n

Differing opinions of Fields’ time in Pittsburgh offer varying theories about whether or not the Steelers were interested in bringing him back in 2025.<\/p>\n

Fields split time with Russell Wilson in 2024 as the former Chicago Bear and\u00a0Ohio State\u00a0Buckeye began the season as Pittsburgh’s starter due to an injury to Wilson.<\/p>\n

Fields went 4-2 during that time but failed to impress on the field. Wilson had already been named the starter the week before the regular season began, so when he was healthy, the team was his.<\/p>\n

While Wilson wasn’t much better, including quarterbacking the team to an abysmal five-game losing streak to end the season, including a Wild Card loss to the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens, Fields is younger and potentially had a higher ceiling at that point.<\/p>\n

At least one analyst believes the Steelers were done with Fields, as it would’ve been easy for them to offer him a contract after the season, which they didn’t.<\/p>\n

“Everyone’s like, they really wanted Fields,” ESPN’s Peter Schrager\u00a0said. “If they really wanted Fields, they would’ve paid Fields big money. That was my take on the whole thing. ‘They really wanted Stafford. Well, Stafford wasn’t going…they didn’t really want Fields. If they really wanted Fields, you give him $40 million and you’re there.”<\/p>\n

The Steelers have turned over their entire quarterback room for the second offseason in a row and have even brought back Mason Rudolph to now play behind Rodgers.<\/p>\n
