The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0are being sued by a former\u00a0NFL\u00a0cornerback who once worked for them.<\/p>\n

Ramzee Robinson played in the NFL from 2007-2012, suiting up for the\u00a0Detroit Lions,\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles,\u00a0Cleveland Browns,\u00a0Washington Commanders\u00a0and\u00a0Denver Broncos. Although he never played for the Chiefs, he was their\u00a0director of player engagement.<\/p>\n

Robinson, 41, is suing the Chiefs for wrongful termination from his job. He filed the lawsuit on Tuesday in the Western District of Missouri.<\/p>\n

This lawsuit accuses the Chiefs of paying \u201cAfrican-American business employees less than their white counterparts,\u201d\u00a0per Front Office Sports.<\/p>\n

The filing also claims the Chiefs pay \u201cAfrican-American business employees\u201d less than their white counterparts. According to the lawsuit, a Black woman resigned from her job that paid $50,000 a year after the team\u2019s \u201crefusal to increase her salary or consider a promotion,\u201d and her role was filled by a white woman, Melissa Weinsz, for $80,000 a year. Weinsz was one of Robinson\u2019s direct reports.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Chiefs have declined to comment on this lawsuit at this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t comment because it\u2019s an active legal matter,\u201d\u00a0Chiefs V.P. of football communications Brad Gee\u00a0told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. \u201cBut to be clear, the Chiefs do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We look forward to the facts of this case coming to light.<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s complaint states that he was fired by the Chiefs for \u201cconduct detrimental to the league.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy client dedicated years of professional service to the Chiefs organization and supported players through critical personal and professional challenges,\u201d\u00a0Robinson\u2019s legal team said.\u00a0\u201cThis lawsuit seeks to hold the organization accountable for the systemic inequities and retaliation he faced for simply demanding fairness.\u201d<\/p>\n
