Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs have been getting ready for a 2025 revenge tour.\u00a0 Their 40-22 loss in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles has left a sour taste in their mouth.\u00a0 Kelce has certainly done his part in the off-season in losing weight and getting into football shape.<\/p>\n

However, a recent announcement sent shockwaves through the NFL.<\/p>\n

According to many, Travis Kelce\u2019s illustrious playing career will come to an\u00a0end\u00a0in 2025:<\/p>\n

Retirement rumors followed Kelce leading up to Super Bowl 59, where the Chiefs were soundly defeated 40-22 by the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles. Some wondered if Kelce would call it quits after a disappointing conclusion to the season, but he decided to sign up for his 13th season.<\/p>\n

Not only will Travis Kelce be 36 in October, but his production has declined over the last two years. He posted 1,000-yard seasons every year from 2016 to 2022, but has fallen below that mark in consecutive years.<\/p>\n

But while speaking to reporters at mandatory minicamp, Travis Kelce\u00a0wouldn\u2019t rule out\u00a0the possibility of playing beyond 2025, per\u00a0NFL.com\u2019s Kevin Patra:<\/p>\n

\u201cI got one year on this contract, I know that, and we\u2019ll try and figure out something for next year. The Chiefs organization knows how much I love them. I can\u2019t see myself ever playing anywhere else. We\u2019ll deal with that down the road when the time is right, but right now I\u2019m focused on winning a championship this year.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

2024 was considered a \u201cdown\u201d year for Kelce, but he still posted a stellar stat line of 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns. He was productive in the postseason, too, with 13 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kelce was also Kansas City\u2019s lead receiver by a country mile, with Xavier Worthy a distant second (59 catches, 638 yards and six touchdowns). But if Rashee Rice and Marquise \u2018Hollywood\u2019 Brown are healthy (they combined for just six regular-season games), Kelce can expect another considerable drop in production.<\/p>\n

Kelce and the Chiefs will begin their push for a fourth Super Bowl together against the AFC West rival\u00a0Los Angeles Chargers\u00a0on Sept. 5. The two teams will play at Arena Corinthians in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil, the first 2025 game of the NFL International Series.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs have owned the Chargers since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback in 2018. With Mahomes behind center, the Chiefs have gone 10-2 against their longtime rivals, including seven straight wins.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
