Dallas has not been to the NFC Championship Game since they last won the Super Bowl. Prescott will be entering another season with high expectations. Some fans think that the Cowboys have reached there ceiling with Prescott as the franchise quarterback despite having a long-term contract with the team.<\/p>\n

Dallas Cowboys Insider Believes That the Team Can Win a Super Bowl With Dak Prescott As Its Quarterback<\/h2>\n

Saad Yousuf, a writer for The Athletic\u00a0was answering a mailbag of questions from different Cowboys fans. A Dallas fan named Mark C. asked him,<\/p>\n

\u201cI see no real reason to believe Dak Prescott will be a better QB than previously after another devastating injury and a year older. Tell me why I\u2019m wrong\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yousuf said,<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I do believe that Prescott is a quality top-half-of-the-league starting quarterback who can play at a top-10 level on any given Sunday. I do believe you can win it all with Prescott as your quarterback. But Prescott is going into his 10th season, and there\u2019s too much of a sample size of coming up short in the big moments and, in recent years, of injuries hampering his abilities to perform at his best. I understand the skepticism.<\/p>\n

If I were to sell somebody on why Prescott could be better than most of his previous years, I would start with the fact that CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens may be the best receiver duo Prescott has had in his career. That\u2019s not to dismiss the 2021 duo of Lamb and Amari Cooper, but this year\u2019s tandem has the potential to be even better. Prescott also has good chemistry with Jake Ferguson, who should be\u00a0extra motivated in a contract year.\u00a0The offensive line and running back situation are wild cards, but the floor for both would seem to be performing at a decent level.<\/p>\n

Does that mean Prescott will be better than what he\u2019s been previously? It\u2019s hard to see him topping his 2023 campaign when he was the MVP runner-up. But at this point in his career, it\u2019s not about how good he can be overall, but can he be at his best in the biggest moments.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

During the 2024 NFL season before Prescott got injured, he completed 64.7% of his passes for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He only rushed for 54 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 4.2 yards per carry. Prescott is 31 years old, and he has been in the NFL since the 2016 season.<\/p>\n

A lot of people are not expecting much from Dallas in 2025. Many people will think that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders will finish ahead of them in the NFC East because of quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Jayden Daniels. There is also a chance that the New York Giants may not finish in last place in the NFC East in 2025 and they have Russell Wilson as its starting quarterback.<\/p>\n

The biggest issue with the Cowboys is that they might have the worst head coach in the division in Brian Schottenheimer. This could be the reason why Dallas will finish in fourth place in the NFC East in 2025. Yes, Dallas traded for wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers to pair up with CeeDee Lamb at wide receiver and gave away a 2026 third-round selection in the deal as well.<\/p>\n

This could help out Prescott, but who knows if he will be the same player after the injury he had in 2024. It is crazy to think that Yousuf believes Dallas can win a Super Bowl title with Prescott at the helm. They are more likely to trade away Prescott before his contract ends rather than winning a Super Bowl with him let alone reaching an NFC championship game and owner Jerry Jones can\u2019t be thrilled with that potentially happening once again during the 2025 NFL season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
