Lamar Jackson reacted to All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker continuing to struggle vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Three missed kicks took seven points off the board for the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens\u00a0against the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles\u00a0in Week 13, but\u00a0Lamar Jackson\u00a0isn\u2019t about to blame\u00a0Justin Tucker.<\/p>\n
The latter\u2019s miserable 2024 NFL season continued with a vengeance during a 24-19 defeat at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, December 1. Tucker naturally cut a dejected figure after the game, but he still has the faith of his quarterback.<\/p>\n
Jackson told reporters, including\u00a0Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, about Tucker: \u201cI believe he\u2019s still the GOAT. Hell yeah, I have confidence (in him).\u201d<\/p>\n
Rather than blame Tucker for yet more inaccuracy in front of the goalposts, Jackson even fronted up and assumed responsibility for making the beleaguered kicker\u2019s job harder. The two-time NFL MVP said he \u201cfelt like we left stuff out there. We shouldn\u2019t even put Tuck in those situations,\u201d\u00a0per Zrebiec.<\/p>\n
Jackson highlighted the missed opportunities he and an erratic offense were guilty of, but there\u2019s no escaping Tucker\u2019s plight. The seven-time Pro Bowler\u2019s struggles are now\u00a0much more than a quirk.<\/p>\n
Tucker\u2019s problems are something the Ravens can no longer afford to carry.<\/p>\n
Justin Tucker Remorseful After Latest Sketchy Game<\/h2>\n
Few kickers in league history can match Tucker\u2019s credentials. He\u2019s a five-time first-team All-Pro and Super Bowl champion, so it\u2019s hard to pinpoint exactly what\u2019s going wrong for one of the best ever at his position.<\/p>\n
Tucker looked out of answers when questioned by reporters after the game. All the 35-year-old could do was fall back on some familiar sporting platitudes, per\u00a0Baltimore Banner Sports.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cThe only thing that we can do, that I can do, is just continue to work, move forward, take one kick at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n
There\u2019s little else for Tucker to say when both his technique and nerve appear to have deserted him at the same time. No easy fix is in sight for a suddenly fragile veteran who has\u00a0made only 19 of 27 field goals and 42 of 44 extra points.<\/p>\n
What Tucker can do is take heart from Jackson\u2019s leadership. Tucker also retains the backing of head coach John Harbaugh.<\/p>\n
The former special teams coordinator for the Eagles still believes Tucker\u2019s \u201cdefinitely capable of making every kick,\u201d per\u00a0NFL Network\u2019s Mike Garafolo<\/p>\n
Harbaugh is \u201cnot really planning on\u201d changing his kicker, probably because the coach knows there are other problems. Like an offense that misfired in key moments against Philly.<\/p>\n
Lamar Jackson Also Missed Opportunities vs. Eagles<\/h2>\n
Tucker wasn\u2019t the only one who missed opportunities for points this week. Jackson also struggled to find his radar.<\/p>\n
No. 8 missed tight end\u00a0Isaiah Likely\u00a0for what looked like a certain touchdown. Jackson also threw short of\u00a0Zay Flowers\u00a0on a pivotal third down.<\/p>\n
Those misses contributed to Jackson being \u201c6-for-15 on third down & was a garbage time touchdown away from being shutout in the second half,\u201d according to\u00a0\u201cRavens Vault\u201d co-host Bobby Trosset.<\/p>\n
The Ravens\u00a0aren\u2019t in sync\u00a0for clutch situations during big games. It\u2019s enough of a problem to derail what should be the most explosive offense in football.<\/p>\n
