The Kansas City Chiefs are winning, at the end of the day that is all that matters, right?\u00a0 While Kansas City is 11-1 on the year, their wins haven\u2019t come in their typical dominant fashion.\u00a0 Multiple last minute wins or one possession wins have consumed their year.\u00a0 All but three of their games this year have been decided by 7 points or less.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just over one week after joining the Chiefs, veteran offensive tackle DJ Humphries will get the chance to start at left tackle if he\u2019s\u00a0ready:<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I \u2014 listen, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s probably fair to D.J. (Humphries) right now just [with] him coming off this offseason,\u201d Reid said during his December 2 press conference. \u201cI think we just play it by ear, Sam (McDowell), as we go. If he feels okay, then we give him an opportunity. If it\u2019s not where it needs to be then you don\u2019t. We\u2019ll see how it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Against the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders\u00a0in Week 13, starting left tackle\u00a0Wanya Morris\u00a0gave up eight total quarterback pressures (six hurries, one sack, one hit), per\u00a0PFF.<\/p>\n

Kansas City\u2019s coaching staff was fed with Morris\u2019s play on Black Friday to the point that Morris was replaced in the fourth quarter by\u00a0Joe Thuney, who slid over from left guard and backup\u00a0Mike Caliendo\u00a0filled Thuney\u2019s void at guard.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Playing rookie second-round pick\u00a0Kingsley Suamataia, who was benched earlier in the season in favor of Morris and has struggled when thrust into the lineup, doesn\u2019t appear to be the next-best option at left tackle. That\u2019s why Big Red hasn\u2019t ruled out Thuney being the left tackle for the near future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that\u2019s another one of the options that we\u2019ve got. We finished the game that way. I\u2019d rather have Joe (Thuney) playing in at guard because he\u2019s very good there, but (Mike) Caliendo isn\u2019t bad either, so that\u2019s a good problem to have. We\u2019ve got some flexibility there as needed,\u201d Reid said on Monday.<\/p>\n

Reid hasn\u2019t completely closed the door on Morris being a starter for the Chiefs, whether it be in the near or distant future, which was evident when he was asked about Morris\u2019s recent play on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, sometimes things snowball on you, Todd (Leabo). I mean, it\u2019s a little bit of everything [that\u2019ll] get you. He (Wanya Morris) started off pretty good and then it kind of went from there [and] that happens with young guys,\u201d Reid explained. \u201cNobody wants that to happen that way but sometimes it happens and then you kind of get frozen in your own feet there and don\u2019t know what to do exactly.<\/p>\n
