The esteemed fashion designer is behind some of the world\u2019s most iconic, history-making celebrity looks, from\u00a0Tina Turner\u2019s 1978 flame dress\u00a0to Madonna\u2019s silver beaded\u00a0number for the 1991 Academy Awards and most of Cher\u2019s most memorable looks.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not to say he\u2019s exactly pleased with all of his past creations.<\/p>\n

In his new documentary \u201cBob Mackie: Naked Illusion,\u201d the costumer got candid about designing Cher\u2019s \u201cvulgar\u201d look for her 1989\u00a0\u201cIf I Could Turn Back Time\u201d\u00a0video, admitting he\u2019s embarrassed by it today.<\/p>\n

The look in question, which he refers to as the \u201cseat belt\u201d outfit, was a sheer bodysuit\u00a0with a thin strap that revealed the \u201cBelieve\u201d singer\u2019s tattooed behind.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe put a lot of wild, sexy clothes on her at different times,\u201d Mackie\u00a0told Yahoo Entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I\u2019d say, \u2018Well, you can\u2019t wear that for\u00a0this\u2019<\/em>\u00a0\u2026 an award show or whatever, and she would [disappointedly reply], OK.\u2019 But she wanted to wear that. Bicycle pants were in, but see-through bicycle pants are really scary.\u201d<\/p>\n

The designer said he told the singer, \u201c\u2018Please don\u2019t tell anyone that I designed this. Don\u2019t let anyone know this. I\u2019m embarrassed,\u2019 and she was fine about it. Now she admits that, no, it wasn\u2019t so good.\u201d<\/p>\n
