Going into the 2024 season, many knew that Dallas Cowboys\u2019 head coach Mike McCarthy would be on the hot seat to win a championship after failing to reach the Super Bowl any of the last three seasons.\u00a0 Each one of those seasons resulted in 12 regular season wins, but not even an NFC Championship game appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, what not many expected was Dak Prescott to go down with a season ending injury and the running game to be historically bad.<\/span><\/p>\n

A struggling NFC team may soon need to fill a HC vacancy after reportedly expressing\u00a0interest\u00a0in Robert Saleh:<\/span><\/p>\n

In a surprise move, the Jets fired Robert Saleh following a 2-3 start. Six weeks later, the dysfunctional AFC franchise relieved general manager Joe Douglas of his duties. The Jets have fared no better under interim HC Jeff Ulbrich, losing six of seven games.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0are widely expected to move on from head coach\u00a0Mike McCarthy\u00a0after the 2024 season. Everyone knows that Jerry Jones doesn\u2019t like \u201cfiring\u201d coaches, but he has a clean exit with McCarthy\u2019s five-year contract expiring in January.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to a report from Mike Fisher of Athlon Sports, the Cowboys\u00a0will consider\u00a0Robert Saleh for their head coaching vacancy. Fisher noted that Saleh would have familiarity with\u00a0Kyle Shanahan\u2019s offense which has been problematic for Dallas:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd one of the coaches who we\u2019re told via an NFL source will \u201cget consideration\u201d for a job at The Star in 2025? Robert Saleh\u2026<\/p>\n

Saleh, 45, has another attribute: A great Cowboys nemesis of this era has been \u201cThe Shanahan Offense,\u201d a style of play based on the teachings of 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. In theory, Shanahan\u2019s own former defensive coodinator might be the league\u2019s most qualified guy when it comes to beating it.<\/p>\n

Saleh\u2019s Jets defenses routinely ranked among the league\u2019s best; for that reason alone he figures to be a hot name when it comes to getting a coordinator job\u2026and a name Cowboys Nation should file away for if\/when a coaching staff search begins here inside The Star.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Robert Saleh was hired as Jets head coach in 2021 after serving as 49ers defensive coordinator under Shanahan. During his tenure, the team went 20-36, though the first two years were rebuilding years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saleh wasn\u2019t the Jets\u2019 problem. In spite of the franchise\u2019s never-ending drama, he connected well with his players, and his history of coaching top-10 defenses speaks for itself.<\/p>\n

<\/span>He will surely get hired before the start of next season.<\/p>\n
