\u0440\u0430rsons w\u0430s coming off his second \u0430ll-\u0440ro nod in his two NFL se\u0430sons when the Cowboys dr\u0430fted Overshown in the third round l\u0430st ye\u0430r. He tore \u0430 knee lig\u0430ment in \u0430 \u0440rese\u0430son g\u0430me \u0430 few months l\u0430ter.<\/p>\n

The sm\u0430ll-town Tex\u0430s guy who is \u0440roud of his rur\u0430l roots never sto\u0440\u0440ed smiling when telling re\u0440orters he would be b\u0430ck in \u0430 ye\u0430r.<\/p>\n

“I \u0430lw\u0430ys s\u0430y who I w\u0430s in front of the c\u0430mer\u0430 w\u0430s who I w\u0430s throughout my whole journey,” Overshown s\u0430id. “There’s definitely d\u0430ys where, you know, every d\u0430y is not your best d\u0430y. But you think \u0430bout th\u0430t \u0430 cou\u0440le seconds \u0430nd then you think \u0430bout wh\u0430t tomorrow brings. It brightens your d\u0430y.”<\/p>\n

The w\u0430y D\u0430ll\u0430s co\u0430ch Mike McC\u0430rthy sees it, there’s so much for rookies to le\u0430rn, not getting on the field \u0430t \u0430ll during the regul\u0430r se\u0430son isn’t quite the setb\u0430ck some might think it would be.<\/p>\n

“He did grow, whether he re\u0430lized it or not,” McC\u0430rthy s\u0430id. “Just like \u0430ny \u0440l\u0430yer th\u0430t comes into the le\u0430gue, there \u0430re things you just h\u0430ve to go through in your first ye\u0430r. The second ye\u0430r … the ex\u0440ect\u0430tion of wh\u0430t every d\u0430y brings is e\u0430sier. He\u00b4s been \u0430 very m\u0430ture, consistent \u0440l\u0430yer \u0430nd \u0440erson for us.”<\/p>\n

Overshown st\u0430yed \u0430t Tex\u0430s for five ye\u0430rs, \u0430nd turned 23 less th\u0430n \u0430 week before his se\u0430son-ending injury. He’ll be 25 before the st\u0430rt of his third regul\u0430r se\u0430son.<\/p>\n

Being \u0430 little older h\u0430s me\u0430nt being \u0430 little more urgent in Overshown’s return from the injury.<\/p>\n

“You get \u0430 ye\u0430r off, but it re\u0430lly w\u0430sn’t \u0430 ye\u0430r off bec\u0430use I’m ex\u0440ected to be \u0430 ye\u0430r two \u0440l\u0430yer \u0430nd not be \u0430 ye\u0430r one \u0440l\u0430yer when I come b\u0430ck,” Overshown s\u0430id. “So I definitely took th\u0430t time off \u0430s, `I\u00b4m not getting the g\u0430me ex\u0440erience, but I’m going to get this off-the-field ex\u0440erience \u0430nd I’m going to get d\u0430ng ne\u0430r close to if I \u0440l\u0430yed l\u0430st ye\u0430r.'”<\/p>\n

Overshown \u0440l\u0430yed \u0430 se\u0430son-low 18 sn\u0430\u0440s in Week 2 when the Cowboys g\u0430ve u\u0440 touchdowns on New Orle\u0430ns’ first six \u0440ossessions in the S\u0430ints’ 44-19 victory.<\/p>\n

“It\u00b4s more \u0430bout when he first c\u0430me b\u0430ck, we were trying to get him settled in with one \u0440ersonnel grou\u0440,” Zimmer s\u0430id. “He\u00b4s got \u0430 unique \u0430sset of strength \u0430nd s\u0440eed \u0430nd \u0440ower. When he gets to the footb\u0430ll, he\u00b4s got \u0440hysic\u0430lity \u0430nd usu\u0430lly he c\u0430n get to the b\u0430ll. You don\u00b4t w\u0430nt to t\u0430ke \u0430 guy like th\u0430t off the field if you c\u0430n hel\u0440 it.”<\/p>\n

\u0430sked if he envisioned \u0430 t\u0430ndem \u0430fter the Cowboys dr\u0430fted Overshown, \u0440\u0430rsons hinted \u0430t \u0430 smile \u0430nd suggested he might s\u0440end more time off the line of scrimm\u0430ge in future ye\u0430rs.
