BREAKING: Micah Parsons Sends Cowboys Shocking Message on Next Contract. -bich123The Dallas Cowboys have had a rollercoaster of a season in 2024. They have seen countless key contributors go down with injuries and that has impacted the team.

The Cowboys are 5-7 on the season and have a pivotal contest against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. They are seeking to make a magical run to the postseason but conversations around the 2025 offseason have begun.

EDGE Micah Parsons is a major factor for this team and will have contact talks this offseason. The star defender spoke with ESPN’s Todd Archer and gave a surprising answer on an extension with Dallas.

Cowboys News: Micah Parsons Discusses Contract Extension

Parsons is eligible for an extension and will likely become one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL. Despite that, the Penn State product revealed that becoming the highest-paid defender in the league isn’t something that is a deal breaker for him.

“I feel like you see a lot of times ‘highest-paid,’ then we say they don’t have weapons, or they don’t have this. So, I would rather just be in the best situation, you know? At that point, I don’t think there’s a big difference between $30 million and $40 million in my eyes, you know? And that’s just me talking.”

– Micah Parsons

The highest-paid defensive player in the league is San Francisco’s Nick Bosa, who inked a five-year, $170 million deal ($34 million annually).

Parsons has the resume and stats to top that number. In 58 career games, Parsons has compiled 241 total tackles, 57 tackles for loss, 104 QB hits, and 47 sacks. He’s finished with double-digit sacks in each of his first three seasons.

If he wanted to bang on the table and ask to become the highest-paid defensive player in the league, Dallas would likely hand him over the money. His comments are a bit surprising but show he wants to have a talented team around him. That’s harder to do when you reset the market on a potential new deal.

Dak Prescott is the highest-paid QB in the NFL ($60 million annually), and CeeDee Lamb is No. 2 at WR ($34 million annually). Parsons doesn’t care about doing the same but things can change from now to when negotiations begin.
