Serena Williams’ former coach, Rick Macci, shared his thoughts on Novak Djokovic’s Grand Slam future. Macci coached the Williams sisters in their early years after taking over from their father, Richard.
Macci said if Djokovic, currently 38, wins another Major at his age, it would be an achievement unprecedented in the sport’s history. He remarked that the Serb would “change the meaning of rare air to the rarest of air.”
The veteran coach wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“If he wins One More Grand Slam in 2025 at his age the Serbian Goat will change the meaning of rare air to the rarest of air. @DjokerNole.”
Djokovic didn’t have his best season in 2024 by his usual standards, as he didn’t win a Slam for the first time since 2017. However, he still achieved something incredible by winning his first Olympic gold medal in Paris, completing his career resume.
The Belgrade native has made major changes to his team, parting ways with longtime coach Goran Ivanisevic and teaming up with former rival Andy Murray. With the 2025 season ahead, all eyes will be on the duo to see what they can achieve with the new partnership.
