The Dallas Cowboys’ offense certainly hasn’t performed as expected this season.
Dallas entered the season expecting to have one of the better offenses in football but that just hasn’t been the case. Injuries have played a role and star quarterback Dak Prescott is done for the season. The Cowboys have struggled rushing the ball this season as well to the surprise of many.
The Cowboys’ rushing attack has looked better since Rico Dowdle fully took over the RB1 duties, but they still could use an upgrade.
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso made a mock draft and predicted that the Cowboys will end up selecting at No. 12 and take Boise State superstar Ashton Jeanty to be the team’s next star running back.
“At this point, I’d be surprised if Jeanty isn’t the selection for the Cowboys whenever they pick in the first round,” Trapasso said.
Dallas has been linked to Jeanty already on numerous occasions and it’s not hard to see why. The Cowboys need a running back and Jeanty will be the best available. So far on the season, he has an eye-popping 2,497 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. He has a chance to break the single-season NCAA rushing record before the season ends.
If he can end up falling to Dallas, that would be a game-changing move.
