Jack Flaherty Predicted To Betray Dodgers For $72M Deal With In-State Rival

The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently undergoing quite a bit of roster shakeup this winter. They’ve added ace Blake Snell and outfielder Michael Conforto while also re-signing reliever Blake Treinen and extending infielder Tommy Edman.

They’re not done there. Los Angeles still has three of its own players in free agency right now. Jack Flaherty, Walker Buehler, and Teoscar Hernández are the top three Dodgers free agents left, and Los Angeles might not re-sign any of them.

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently predicted for Flaherty to cut ties with the Dodgers in favor of a $72 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels.

“As far as a team goes, this feels like a great spot for the Angels to make one more splash,” Miller wrote. “Flaherty was born and raised in Los Angeles, but the Dodgers are probably out of the $20M(-plus) pitcher market now. And the moves the Halos have made already this offseason show a desperation to not sputter through another lost year. Adding Flaherty to the mix alongside Kikuchi, Kyle Hendricks, Tyler Anderson and José Soriano at least makes them interesting in the AL West race.”

The Angels, to the surprise of many, are looking to buy and contend this winter. They’ve already added left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. Adding Flaherty alongside him while also adding a productive bat or two would give the Angels a chance to contend as the season goes on.
