The Baltimore Ravens destroyed the New York Giants 35-14 at MetLife Stadium in Week 15. The Ravens moved to 9-5 on the season and second place in the AFC North, while the Giants fell to 2-11 and remain in last place in the NFC East.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, a strong candidate to win his third MVP Award this season, went off against the struggling Giants’ defense. Jackson completed 21-of-25 of his passes (84%) for 290 yards and five touchdowns.
Jackson made NFL history by recording his seventh game with as many or more passing touchdowns (five) as incompletions (four).
While there’s a lot to celebrate regarding the 27-year-old quarterback’s performance, the Ravens failed to double check the NFL stat pages before making a historic announcement about the former Heisman Trophy winner on social media.
The Raven’s official X account called Jackson “1-of-1” on Dec. 16, claiming he was the “First QB in NFL history to complete 80% of his passes with 250 passing yards, 5 passing TDs, 0 INTs, and 50 rushing yards.”
It didn’t take long for the post to get slapped with a community note that read, “Josh Allen did this on January 15th 2022.”
During the Bills’ 47-17 Wild Card playoff win over the New England Patriots two years ago, Allen, who’s a frontrunner to defeat Jackson in this year’s MVP race, hit all those stats.
