We are now finding out why Mike Tyson likely went off script and smacked Jake Paul in the face during their face-off.
Paul and Tyson weighed in Thursday at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas. Paul weighed 227 pounds, and Tyson weighed 228.4 pounds.
That would quickly become a footnote to what happened later.
Mike Tyson stepped off the scale and approached Paul for a final face-off.
Paul crawled toward Tyson, which appeared to upset Tyson, so he struck him in the face.
Now, social media is accusing Paul of being racist when he did that.
“Y’all peep the racist [expletive] he just did?! I wish Mike was 10yrs younger,” an X user tweeted out that has been seen more than 37 million people.
Jake Paul hasn’t addressed any of the backlash on social media.
Following the viral slap, Paul and his mother, Pam Stepnick, met on the floor at AT&T Stadium to speak about the fight with Mike Tyson.
Momma Paul dissed Tyson for slapping her son, calling him a “f’ing little b*tch.” Paul responded, “You slap harder than him.
Mike Tyson Reveals Real Reason Why he Slapped Jake Paul
Despite social media making claims of Jake Paul being racist towards Mike Tyson, it appears he had another reason to smack him.
The smack was Tyson’s reaction to Paul stepping on his toe, which he thinks may have been on purpose, according to the New York Post.
“I was in my socks, and he had on shoes,” Tyson told The Post moments after the weigh-in. “He stepped on my toe because he is a f–king a–hole. I wanted to think it happened by accident. But now I think it may have happened on purpose.
“I was in a lot of pain. I had to reciprocate.”
A representative of Tyson told The Post: “Jake has been poking the bear the whole time. Mike slapped the s–t out of him.”
