Corbin Burnes is the top player left in free agency and he may sign a contract worth north of $250 million this winter. Burnes has long been a free agent target of the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and many other teams, but it’s the Dodgers that have been seen as the scariest team to land him.
Could you imagine a Dodgers rotation with Burnes atop it next to Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow?
But the San Francisco Giants would likely do anything in their power to stop that from happening. Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer recently predicted it would be the Giants that signed Burnes, projecting an eight-year, $250 million deal.

“You could therefore make the case that he’s already aging gracefully, which is to say nothing of how he’s never been on the injured list with an arm or shoulder injury.”
Burnes landing with the Giants would be a huge step in the right direction for San Francisco. The Giants have already signed Willy Adames under the new leadership of franchise legend Buster Posey. While chasing the Dodgers in the National League West, the Giants need to continue making additions to the roster.
The fit is perfect. The money is right. As long as the Red Sox or Blue Jays don’t swoop in with an offer nearing $300 million, Burnes is favored to land in San Francisco.
