There’s a first time for everything. This was the exact message Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry had after the Memphis Grizzlies prevented him from making a single field goal during Thursday’s shocking 144-93 blowout loss.
After the game, Curry revealed that the “vibes” inside the Warriors’ locker room weren’t that bad, considering they had just suffered a 51-point blowout loss.
Curry, however, had to be brutally honest when asked to comment on how the Grizzlies held him to just two points on 0-of-7 shooting during Thursday’s game.
“First time for everything, right?” Curry said, via CBS Sports. “I never thought that would be a situation or a result of a game. Just from the very jump, they just kind of punched us in the mouth. We didn’t have an answer.
“They shot the ball well, we were getting the ball out of the basket every possession. They were funneling us to the spots on the court that they wanted us instead of the other way around.”

Andrew Wiggins was one of the few bright spots on the evening for the Warriors as the former All-Star scored 19 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Apart from him, however, Curry and the rest of the starters combined for just nine points.
This led to an honest admission by the former back-to-back MVP. According to Curry, the Warriors just weren’t able to make the necessary adjustments against the Grizzlies.
“If you don’t have an answer for how a team is guarding you, you gotta figure something out on the fly, and we didn’t do it,” Curry said. “That was kind of embarrassing.”
Golden State has now lost nine out of its last eleven games, and this humiliating blowout loss against the Grizzlies on Thursday has only further compounded its misery.
Curry and Co. are on a downward spiral right now, and they will need to dig deep to get out of this brutal slump.
