The Baltimore Ravens turned December Derrick Henry loose on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday to score a 34-17 victory in an AFC North rivalry game.
In Saturday’s other NFL game, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 27-19.
Henry had a 5.1-yards-per-carry average in the 12th month during his career entering the game, and the former Alabama All-American improved that by running for 162 yards on 24 carries on Saturday. Baltimore has a 6-0 record this season when Henry reaches 20 rushing attempts and a 7-0 record when he reaches 100 rushing yards.
Henry had the most rushing yards that a Baltimore player has recorded in a game against the Steelers with his 17th game of at least 150, which is the seventh-most in NFL history.
Henry pushed his 2024 totals to 1,636 yards on 278 rushing attempts. He became the fifth player in NFL history with at least four seasons of 1,500 or more rushing yards. Barry Sanders had five, and Edgerrin James, Eric Dickerson and Walter Payton had four apiece. All four of those running backs are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Henry is tied for the Baltimore single-season record with 15 touchdowns in 2024, but he did not score against Pittsburgh.

When Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud connected with wide receiver Tank Dell on a 30-yard touchdown pass with 11:40 left in the third quarter, the Texans trailed by one point. But Dell suffered a knee injury on the play, kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn missed the extra point and Kansas City outscored Houston 10-3 the rest of the way.
Dell was driven off the field with a vacuum cast on his left leg and taken to University of Kansas Medical Center. After the game, Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Dell had suffered a significant knee injury and would stay at the hospital overnight as his teammates returned to Houston.
Dell, who started his college career at Alabama A&M, had six receptions for 98 yards and one touchdown on Saturday. Dell also had a 12-yard punt return.
Eight other players from Alabama high schools and colleges got on the field during the Houston-Kansas City game:
Will Anderson Jr. (Alabama) started at defensive end for the Texans. Anderson made two tackles and registered two quarterback hits.
Nico Collins (Clay-Chalkville) started at wide receiver for the Texans. Collins had seven receptions for 60 yards.
Christian Harris (Alabama) started at linebacker for the Texans. Harris made seven tackles and recorded his first sack of the season in his second game of 2024. Harris returned last week from a calf injury that caused him to miss 13 games.
Tytus Howard (Monroe County, Alabama State) started at left guard for the Texans. Usually Houston’s right tackle, Howard made his second straight start at left guard because of injuries in the Texans’ offensive line.
Kamari Lassiter (American Christian) started at cornerback for the Texans. Lassiter made four tackles and broke up two passes. He moved from the outside to the slot corner after Jimmie Ward left with a foot injury.
Texans wide receiver John Metchie III (Alabama) was designated as game-day inactive. A shoulder injury sidelined Metchie.
Chiefs quarterback Chris Oladokun (Samford) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.
Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross (Central-Phenix City) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.
Texans tight end Irv Smith Jr. (Alabama) did not record any stats.
Henry To’oTo’o (Alabama) started at linebacker for the Texans. To’oTo’o tied for the team lead with 10 tackles and recorded one tackle for loss. To’oTo’o returned a fumble for a touchdown, but the ruling on the field was overturned to an incomplete pass on review.
Jimmie Ward (Davidson) started at slot corner for the Texans. Ward made three tackles before being carted off the field with a foot injury in the first half
Chiefs wide receiver Montrell Washington (Samford) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.
Texans offensive tackle Kilian Zierer (Auburn) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.
Both teams already had secured division titles – Kansas City (14-1) in the AFC West and Houston (9-6) in the AFC South. The Chiefs need one more victory or a Buffalo Bills’ loss to clinch the No. 1 seed and the accompanying first-round bye for the AFC playoffs.

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey intercepted a pass by Pittsburgh quarterback Russell Wilson and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown with 13:06 remaining to double Baltimore’s lead to 31-17. That sent the Ravens to their second win in the past 10 meetings with the Steelers. The largest margin of victory in the previous nine games had been seven points.
