The NFL is pulling out all the stops for the halftime show of the Baltimore Ravens‘ game against the Houston Texans. Beyonce, the “Queen Bey” herself, is scheduled to perform in front of her hometown team. In addition, there is supposed to be a pregame performance of “All I Want for Christmas” from Mariah Carey ahead of the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers.
With the Ravens preparing for this pivotal matchup, which could have big playoff seeding implications, leave it to Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson to lighten the mood, detailing his plans to skip the locker room to go watch Beyonce at halftime.
Reporters asked if Jackson was disappointed to miss the Beyonce halftime show.
Jackson replied, “No, I’m gonna go out there and watch! [It’ll be] my first time seeing her perform and it’s at our game? That’s dope. I’m gonna go out and watch. Sorry, Harbaugh! Sorry, fellas!”
In July 2023, Jackson quoted a post by Louisville football, his alma mater, where players jokingly asked Beyonce for free concert tickets.
Beyonce was born in Houston. In many of her songs, she mentions her hometown heritage and the “Third Ward,” a southeastern portion of the city. Winner of 32 Grammys, the most ever for any artist, Beyonce has sold over 200 million records worldwide.
