Following Novak Djokovic’s recent decision to hire Andy Murray as his coach, fans have eagerly awaited a glimpse of the duo’s training sessions. Following a video of the Serb being posted, a viral claim has surfaced, suggesting that Djokovic is currently training in Qatar. Let’s dive into the details to determine whether this claim is true or false.

On December 25, the official Instagram account of Qatar Tennis shared a video of Djokovic training in Doha.

The clip quickly went viral, and one fan on X (formerly Twitter) speculated that the Serbian star had begun his 2025 preparations alongside his new coach, Murray, in the Middle East.

However, a closer examination reveals a different story. Another fan pointed out that the video was almost a month old. Djokovic, wearing the same attire as in the Qatar Tennis video, was featured in an Instagram Reel shared jointly by him and Qatar Airways, promoting his ambassadorial role with the airline.

The video posted by Qatar Tennis seems to serve as a promotion for the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, which will take place in Doha in February. The tournament, recently elevated from an ATP 250 to an ATP 500 event, boasts a star-studded lineup, including Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, and Andrey Rublev.

As for Djokovic’s off-season training with Murray, its location remains a mystery. There has been no official confirmation or updates about their sessions, fueling fan curiosity and theories.

Amid the mystery of Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray’s training sessions, recent posts on Instagram featuring the two suggest that both player and coach are currently in Marbella, Spain.

Djokovic has made Marbella, on Spain’s Costa del Sol, his home base since 2020, when he purchased a nine-bedroom villa he previously rented during the lockdown. He and his wife Jelena shared glimpses of their life there during the pandemic.

Last year, Djokovic trained at an undisclosed academy in Marbella before starting his 2024 season at the United Cup. This year as well, the 37-year-old could be putting in training sessions in Marbella along with new coach Murray.

Djokovic and Murray have embarked on a coaching partnership since a month before the Serb kicks off his 2025 season at the Brisbane International. Djokovic will be hoping Murray helps fine-tune his game ahead of the Australian Open in late January, where he will target a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.
