The Kansas City Chiefs are 15-1 and recently secured the AFC’s No. 1 seed with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day. While everything may seem great for the team and its players, there’s life outside of football.
Many fans view football players simply as athletes, forgetting they are human beings who face struggles like everyone else.
Patrick Mahomes’ family is experiencing some personal challenges off the field. On Friday, Mahomes’ mom, Randi Mahomes, posted an Instagram story about her father.
“Asking for prayers for my father,” Randi Mahomes captioned the post while sharing a selfie with him.
Randy Martin, who is Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather, has had ongoing health issues. It’s unclear what he’s dealing with, but he was in the hospital and wasn’t doing well back in September.
Randi Mahomes often posts about her father, whether to mention that she called him or to let everyone know she’s stopping by for a visit.
“Amazing Christmas Day with all my favorite people, FaceTime my daddy!!!” she wrote on Wednesday. “And of course Chiefs Win!!! #BLESSED.”
“Headed to visit my dad,” she posted in November. “Priceless time and talks….”
Things haven’t been easy for the Mahomes family over the last year. Aside from her father being in the hospital, Randi Mahomes’ mother passed away in April 2023 after battling an illness.
Although the exact nature of Randy Martin’s condition has not been disclosed, prayers are being sent to the Mahomes family this holiday season.
