Despite starting the 2024 NFL season at 2-6, the Miami Dolphins are still alive in the AFC playoff race. Heading into Week 17, they were two games behind the Denver Broncos for the final Wild Card spot.
The Dolphins need to take care of business in their final two games, but they also need some help from other teams. A win by the Broncos on Saturday night against the Cincinnati Bengals could have ended Miami’s playoff hopes before they even hit the field on Sunday.
Luckily for the Dolphins, the Bengals came through with a dramatic 30-24 overtime win over Denver, giving Miami a chance.
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill hopped on social media after the game to send a message to his teammates.
“Let’s take care of business guys,” Hill said.
The eight-time Pro Bowler wasn’t shy about his Bengals’ fandom for the day. Before the game, he also posted Cincinatti’s chant, saying, “#WHODEY, we’re rooting for you today.”
Miami will likely have to get one of their two wins without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The team listed him doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
Here’s what Miami needs to happen over the last two weeks of the season to clinch the AFC’s final playoff spot (The Dolphins hold the tiebreaker over the Broncos and Bengals):
- Dolphins win vs. Cleveland Browns
- Dolphins win vs. New York Jets
- Denver Broncos loss vs. Kansas City Chiefs
- Indianapolis Colts lose vs. New York Giants or Jacksonville Jaguars
