The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to make a run for their third consecutive Super Bowl title. That said, one week remains in the regular season, and with the Chiefs likely to sit the majority of their starters, backups will get their time to shine.

With that in mind, the Chiefs made a roster move on Monday. According to Elite Loyalty Sports on X, the Chiefs have signed linebacker Blake Lynch to their practice squad.

Chiefs news: LB Blake Lynch signs to Chiefs practice squad

Lynch entered the league in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor when the Minnesota Vikings signed Lynch to their practice squad. Lynch spent two seasons with the Vikings, recording 47 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception in 20 games.

Following the 2021 season, Lynch was waived by the Vikings. Lynch then signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in 2022 and never saw the field. The following season, Lynch was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad.

Similar to his time in Minnesota, Lynch was brought up to the active roster. As a Charger, Lynch recorded just four tackles in eight games.

The Chiefs’ addition of Lynch might be nothing more than just adding another body to the room. Yet, it could also be a signal that the Chiefs are resting every starter in Week 18 instead of only a select few.

If that’s the case, then Lynch could be called up from the practice squad on game day to make the start. Ultimately, Lynch’s addition to the practice squad may mean nothing, but even if it does it’s nothing major.
