The Allstate Sugar Bowl, originally scheduled for Wednesday night at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, had to be postponed following the terror attack on Bourbon Street that left at least 15 dead and many more injured.

As soon as the decision came down, ESPN was all over it.

The annual Sugar Bowl had to be postponed, and instead of being played on Wednesday, it will now be played on Thursday.

The bowl game is one thing, but the NFL also has a huge event: the Super Bowl, which will be played in New Orleans in February.

The NFL made sure to reassure that Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans would be a “safe and enjoyable” experience after everyone woke up to the terror attack in the historic city early Wednesday morning.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of the devastating incident in New Orleans,” the statement says. “Our thoughts are with the victims, the New Orleans community, and all those affected.

“The NFL and the host committee have been working collaboratively with local, state, and federal agencies the past two years and have developed comprehensive security plans. These planning sessions will continue as they do with all major NFL events, and we are confident attendees will have a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl experience.”

The College Football Playoff In New Orleans Will Still Be Played

The College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame was postponed for 24 hours early Wednesday due to an attack about a mile away from the Superdome.

The game had to be pushed back to 3 p.m. Thursday as the winner will advance to the Jan. 9 Orange Bowl against Penn State.

The Superdome had to be placed on lockdown for security sweeps to ensure that nothing fishy was happening as the two teams and thousands of fans will descend on the area.
