After the Dallas Cowboys lost Dak Prescott to a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9, the team called upon Cooper Rush as their new QB1 for the remainder of the campaign.
The veteran quarterback did all he could for the Cowboys in Prescott’s stead, and Rush did a relatively solid job after he was shoved into the spotlight. The former Central Michigan standout went 4-4 in eight starts this season, but it just wasn’t enough to help lead Dallas to a playoff spot.
On Sunday, the Cowboys played their last game of the season. They suffered a defeat at AT&T Stadium against the Washington Commanders, 23-19, with head coach Mike McCarthy opting to give third-string QB Trey Lance the opportunity to start in the season finale.
That means that Rush was not able to take the field in what was potentially his last game for the Cowboys.
In attendance at AT&T Stadium on Sunday was Cooper Rush’s wife, Lauryn Rush. She turned heads with her outfit for the final game of the season despite the fact that her better half did not see any action on the day.
Not long after the loss to the Commanders, Lauryn Rush took to Instagram to share a parting message now that the season has officially ended for the Cowboys.
“Year 8 it’s a wrap 🫶🏼🏈” she wrote, sharing photos of herself, her husband and their two daughters from the game.
It is going to be a very interesting season for Cooper Rush as he becomes an unrestricted free agent in March. At this point, it remains to be seen if the Cowboys will offer the 31-year-old a contract extension, which means that his future in Dallas currently hangs in the balance.
Cowboys fans flocked to Lauryn Rush’s post as they sent their messages of thanks and well wishes after a memorable campaign.
“Great job under difficult circumstances cooperation.. hope you return,” a supporter on Instagram wrote.
“Thankful for what Cooper brings to @dallascowboys wish they appreciated him more. Thankfully he has an awesome wife like you supporting him. Bucket list item getting autograph jersey of Cooper with his autograph and your autograph 💙” a reaction read.
“Tell him thank you for all his hard work for the Team. He was a bad (expletive) in my eyes!!! Enjoy your honey now!! Glad he is healthy. ❤️😍#Inrushitrust” said another.
“Hoping to see your little family back in Dallas Next season! 💙” wished a fan.
“I’d love for Coop to be back in Dallas next year. I wish Jerry wasn’t so sold on Dak. Coop deserves to compete for QB1,” declared a Cowboys supporter.
“8 great seasons and many more to come!” commented NFL agent Chris Cabott.
As that last one indicated, Rush has been with the Cowboys since starting his NFL career in 2017. However, it is unclear if he will still be in Dallas once the new season starts.
Either way, Cooper Rush can rely on the unwavering support and love of his wife and kids.
