BREAKING NEWS : Patrick Mahomes throws shade at axed Raiders coach Antonio Pierce… after his controversial plan to rough up QB

Before the NFL season got underway, Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce revealed his team would institute a specific policy of play to handle Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Clearly, that plan didn’t work and Pierce will not be able to implement the so-called ‘Mahomes rules’ with the Raiders again.

On Tuesday, the Raiders fired Pierce after a disappointing 4-13 season that failed to hit the mark.

Mahomes remembered the comments the outgoing coach made and took it upon himself to click ‘like’ on the ESPN Instagram post announcing Pierce’s sacking.

But it appears that Mahomes may have ‘unliked’ the post after his interaction with it was picked up on social media.

The Chiefs were able to beat the Raiders twice this season – both games finishing with one-score wins for Kansas City.

In the first meeting, Mahomes completed 27-of-38 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in a 27-20 road win that extended their then-undefeated mark.

The second meeting was even closer (a 19-17 Chiefs win at home), but Mahomes was even better – throwing for 306 yards (his third-best mark of the year) and one touchdown.

Pierce went 5-4 in an interim role with the Raiders last season after the firing of former coach Josh McDaniels.

He was elevated to the full-time role for this season, but failed to improve on 2023’s mark of 8-9.

The Raiders are now the sixth NFL team to undergo a coaching change this season – joining the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

On the other hand, Kansas City is the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs – with a bye through to the divisional round.
