Polish World No. 2 Iga Swiatek was seen wearing her much-anticipated outfit for the forthcoming Australian Open Championships at an event in Melbourne on Wednesday (Jan. 8), hosted by her sponsor, On.
The set features an assortment of bright colours, including yellow and peach, and was reportedly inspired by creamsicles – creamy popsicles that are popular during summer.
The shoot reportedly took place at the Grace Park Hawthorn Club in Australia. Notably, it featured a clay court instead of hard, where the Austraian Open is played, as four of Swiatek’s five Grand Slams have come on the red dirt in Paris and she is considered one of the finest clay court players in the history of the game.
Notably, Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer became a shareholder in Swiatek’s sponsor On AG in November 2019. The Zurich-headquartered brand released a limited edition lifestyle shoe named “The Roger” the following year.
Federer’s 3% ownership stake in On was reportedly worth $180 million in 2021. Notably, the Swiss, with an estimated net worth of $550 million from his prize money from tennis, endorsement deals and other appearances, is among the richest athletes in the world.
Iga Swiatek in 2023 became the first women’s tennis player to sign with On, which specializes in apparel and footwear. Along with US men’s tennis hope Ben Shelton, she debuted On’s inaugural line of tennis apparel at the Miami Open that year.
A day earlier, the Pole debuted the new frame for her Tecnifibre racket in a paid partnership with the manufacturer.
“Ready for the Australian Open,” she captioned the clip that featured footage of her hitting a tennis ball with a racket fitted with the new outfit.
Iga Swiatek is set to resume her season at the Australian Open which gets underway on Sunday (Jan. 12).
Iga Swiatek all set to challenge for her first Australian Open trophy
Iga Swiatek was last seen on the tennis courts in the mixed team “United Cup” event. The duo of Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz made it all the way to the final, before losing to an inspired American team featuring Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz.
The Pole had a successful 2024 season, winning 4 WTA 1000 events and her 4th crown at the French Open. However, she was suspended for one month in November after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine.
Historically, the Australian Open has been one of Swiatek’s least successful Slams. Her best showing so far was a semifinal result in 2022. Last year, the Pole was bundled out in the third round by Czech teen sensation Linda Noskova.
