The 2024 Davis Cup Finals were the last official event of Rafael Nadal’s amazing career. The Spanish legend hoped to help his team get far into Malaga, but the local idols’ run ended in the quarterfinals also due to some mistakes by captain David Ferrer.

Rafa’s farewell ceremony was quite disappointing and the organizers were criticized in the following days, but this does not affect the legacy of one of the greatest champions of the modern era. Although it was very painful, the 22-time Grand Slam champion made the right decision and would not have made much sense to play in 2025.
