Lamar Jackson is among the leading candidates for the 2024 NFL MVP trophy.
Jackson just wrapped up one of the best seasons of his seven-year NFL career thus far — a career that’s already seen him claim two league MVP awards.
Through 17 regular-season games for the Baltimore Ravens, Jackson threw for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions — completing 66.7% of his pass attempts. The elite dual-threat quarterback also got the job done on the ground, rushing for 915 yards and four touchdowns.
With this single-season stat line, Jackson is the first player in NFL history to record at least 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards in the same regular-season campaign.
The NFL announced Jackson’s historic accomplishment with a social media post on Thursday night.
“In a stratosphere of his own,” the league wrote on X.
Despite these historic numbers, Jackson currently holds second position in MVP betting odds — trailing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
This NFL post resulted in some serious MVP discussion among fans.
“Lamar is in a league of his own! This season was even better than his MVP season last year,” one fan wrote.
“He’s so clearly the mvp,” another added.
“Season for the history book. Definitely the league mvp,” another said.
Jackson will look to continued his stellar play in Saturday night’s wild card matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That first-round playoff contest will kickoff at 8 p.m. EST from Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium.
