After the 2024 NFL regular season ended, much of the talk around the league has been about the two MVP frontrunners in Buffalo Bills‘ Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens‘ Lamar Jackson. On Friday, however, fans were convinced that the battle had been decided.
On social media, the NFL shared the news about the Associated Press All-Pro selections, including the All-Pro First Team Offense. Interestingly, Jackson was named to the group, with Allen missing out. In fact, no Bills player made it to the list.
While Allen had been the favorite to win the NFL MVP award over the past several weeks, the AP selection led fans to claim that it had effectively settled the race for the league’s highest individual honor.
“Lamar the MVP,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “LJ= MVP.”
“Been saying MV3,” a social media user shared.
A follower further stated, “Looks like Lamar is MVP lol.”
“Lamar first team all pro means he’s the MVP,” a fifth fan shared.
Another supporter said, “Looks like Lj8 is mvp. Can’t stop greatness.”
Of course nothing is final until the MVP winner is officially announced. It’s not unprecedented for a player who didn’t make the AP All-Pro First Team to win MVP, although the last time it happened was in 1987 when Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway won the award. Elway was the second-team quarterback at the time, per Buffalo Rumblings.
It remains to be seen what will happen in the 2024 NFL MVP voting, but things have certainly gotten more interesting.
