A bizarre reason has emerged behind the brief delay in the third quarter of the Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game on Saturday night.
With 5:14 remaining in the third quarter of the Ravens-Steelers game at M&T Bank Stadium, officials blew the whistle without explanation. No timeout on either end was called, leading to confusion among the fans and viewers at home:
Afterwards, sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung reported that the stoppage was because NFL security spotted a drone flying above M&T Bank Stadium as the Baltimore Ravens clung to a 21-point lead.
Before the game, FBI Special Agent David Rodski issued a public warning about a temporary ban on flying drones at and around M&T Bank Stadium before the Baltimore Ravens hosted their archrivals. Clearly, someone didn’t get the memo.
It’ll be interesting to see what type of action the NFL takes to ensure they don’t have more drone flyovers for outdoor games.
