Mike McCarthy’s tenure was met with mixed reviews.
He led them to multiple postseason berths and had some good seasons, but the team failed to win a playoff game.
And now that his contract has expired and they could not strike a new deal, there will be multiple candidates looking to take the reins of America’s Team.
Unsurprisingly, Deion Sanders sits atop that list.
As reported by NBC Sports Bet on X, the former Cowboys superstar is currently the odds-on favorite to be the team’s next head coach.
Sanders has revamped two not-so-big college football programs.
He put Jackson State on the map before taking his talents to Colorado, and while the team didn’t make the College Football Playoffs last season, there were some evident signs of improvement.
Sanders is a proven commodity and would likely bring plenty of attention to Dallas.
On top of that, he’s always had a close relationship with Jerry Jones.
Being the high-character figure he is, he will most likely only take the job if he can have a big input on the roster.
That has been a bit of an issue in the past, as Jones has taken a hands-on approach to everyday operations.
The Cowboys need someone to straighten the course of the ship, and it’s hard to think of a better candidate than Coach Prime.
