That’s one less weapon for the Ravens.

The Buffalo Bills may have just received news that could give their secondary a massive break for Sunday Night Football. Buffalo’s secondary has been a little shaky this year, but they have had their moments of being the reason why the ball goes back to the offense. However, they have also been the team’s biggest liability.

Heading into a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson and the passing attack might be going without one of their top targets in Zay Flowers. According to Ian Rapoport, it looks like Flowers will miss a second straight game due to a knee injury he suffered in Week 18 against the Cleveland Browns.

The Ravens potentially not having Zay Flowers gives massive advantage to Bills

Flowers finished the regular season with 1,059 yards and four touchdowns. Considering what kind of threat he is to a defense, he was not a factor against the Bills back in Week 4 (2 targets, 1 catch for 10 yards). However, he has had five games of 100+ receiving yards this year and has been Lamar Jackson’s go-to guy.

He is someone that can open up the field for guys like Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews. Not to mention, he is a good complimentary piece to take defenders away from the ball to let others shine.

It was then later reported by Ari Meirov that Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has not ruled out Flowers for the game and that he has a chance to play in this game, despite not practicing this week.

Even if Flowers is active for this game, he won’t be as useful as the Ravens would like him to be. Knee injuries are already bad enough. For a receiver to have one going into a cold-weathered game, it’s going to be very tough for Flowers to be productive at all. Especially if the Bills are able to stop the rushing attack, Baltimore won’t have a fully healthy Flowers for crucial passing situations.

The status of Flowers will be deeply monitored because of the kind of player he is for the Ravens. If he officially cannot go for Sunday night, that takes a good amount of pressure off of the Bills’ secondary.
