Clark Lea is the head coach of the football program at Vanderbilt College, and he has been with the team since the 2021 season. His team seems to be very disciplined, but it looks as though he found out that even the professionals aren’t sometimes.

Lea helped lead the Vanderbilt Commodores to a solid 2024 college football season record. They upset Alabama this season and earned a bowl game, playing in and winning the Birmingham Bowl.

Of course, any team that heads to a bowl game has to have some high standards both on and off the field, and Lea revealed his standards at a recent coaching conference. He revealed some interesting things.

While Lea refused to name the franchise, a specific NFL team was allowed to use the Commodores’ locker room while on a road trip, unfortunately, the Commodores returned home to find their locker room in disarray.

Lea criticized the unnamed NFL franchise, claiming it didn’t show the same values as the Commodores. He called the act “external vandalism” and said you can’t expect everyone to hold the same values outside as in.

“Internal vandalism to external vandalism,” wrote Doug Samuels. He added, “They allowed an NFL team to use their facility while they were away. An injured player stayed behind and send this picture to Lea. This is an example of external vandalism.”

It’s unclear whether or not the NFL team was punished for the actions. However, Lea will look to continue to enforce his culture on his Vanderbilt team. The Commodores will look to continue to get better during the 2025 season.
