The Buffalo Bills are just one day away from hosting the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs, so star quarterback Josh Allen getting some run time on a billboard in the Buffalo area should come as a surprise to no one.
However, seeing the billboard that stands just above Spot Coffee on Delaware Avenue was a surprise to his fiancée, popular singer and actress Hailee Steinfeld.
The billboard, which was tweeted by CBS Sports reporter Tracy Wolfson and has garnered more than 272,000 views on X, features two playing cards representing Allen and his fiancée with a caption that reads “The Queen city has a new queen. Congratulations, Josh and Hailee.”
Once Steinfeld saw the billboard she quickly penned a thank you message in her Beau Society newsletter to the city of Buffalo and Delaware North, a food service and hospitality company headquartered in the city that raised the billboard.
“There’s champagne, there’s beautifully written cards, and then there’s ‘congratulations on your engagement’ billboards,” Steinfeld wrote. “This was a wild and very sweet surprise. Thank you, Delaware North and Buffalo. I’m honored.”
Allen and Steinfeld dating in the spring of 2023 and announced their engagement back in November.
The 28-year-old QB, who’s thrown for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 531 yards and another 12 touchdowns, credits Steinfeld for playing a big role in his MVP-caliber season (Allen and Ravens QB Lamar Jackson are the two MVP front-runners.)
“She’s been a huge part [of my success],” Allen told the Associated Press back in December. “The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best.”
Allen and the Bills will get a chance to exact some revenge on the Ravens on Sunday in a rematch from Week 4.
Baltimore easily won that game 35-10 thanks to Derrick Henry’s 199-yard rushing performance. Allen threw for just 180 yards and was kept out of the end zone.
