A champion like Novak Djokovic knows when the time is right to raise his level in Grand Slam tournaments. After two unconvincing performances at the 2025 Australian Open, the ten-time champion of this tournament played much better against Tomas Machac in the third round and secured a spot in the second week.

The 37-year-old from Belgrade has shown that he is still a viable candidate to win the Majors, although he is almost 38 years old and can no longer be as brilliant as he used to be. The former world No. 1 is growing as the rounds go by and will be looking for further confirmation in this regard in the match against Lehecka tomorrow.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has not hidden what his main goals are this season and Andy Murray’s support has done him a lot of good so far, waiting for more challenging matches from all points of view.

A message to his rivals

In an interview with Eurosport, former world No.1 Justine Henin admitted that she was impressed by Nole’s latest performance: “I think it was really good from him and really gave us a sign that he is into the tournament.

It was tough with his serve, his opponent, the crowd also. But from the first point he showed a lot of dedication and concentration.

What he did in terms today in terms of message, and being upset, it’s a good sign for Novak.

I think when we see his reaction at the end of the match, I think he sends the message – I am here guys at this Australian Open.”

The former world number 1 does not have the same pressure as in the past because he is not the top favorite this year, but he has never given up on his dream of winning the 25th Major title of his career. Nole’s potential path to Melbourne Park is really scary.

If he can defeat Lehecka tomorrow, the Serbian ace may have to face Carlitos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals and Sascha Zverev in the semi-finals.
