FRISCO – After a dominant regular season, playoff football has arrived for Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills. … and maybe a new Dak Prescott-level contract is coming as well.
Allen’s Bills beat the Denver Broncos in a 31-7 playoff blowout last week. This weekend they play host to the Baltimore Ravens.
Wins matter most, and the 2024 version of the Bills – which very well could have MVP winner Josh Allen at the helm – have a lot of those.
They also have a great chance to finally break through in the postseason, having been to only one AFC Championship game under No. 17’s leadership.
But there could be something else cooking for the gifted Allen: A contract re-do that would vault him above Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys,
Spotrac is predicting that Allen might be due a new contract that could double his salary. They write, “Allen has four years and $129.5 million remaining on his contract through 2028, a $32.3 million APY. With top QB contracts now nearly doubling this mark, it stands to reason that the Bills could opt to start fresh with a brand new deal for the 28-year-old.”
In the fall, Prescott’s new deal was forged at $60 million per year. That re-sets the bar for everybody. So Allen and the idea of five years worth $300 million? It adds up …
And would make Josh Allen the highest-paid player in the history of the sport.
But first things first. A Super Bowl march is about to begin.
That is the hope for the Bills and Josh Allen.
And someday, of course, it is the hope for the Cowboys and Dak Prescott.
