Reid gets monumental 300th victory as Chiefs triumph in divisional playoffs
The Kansas City Chiefs just secured their seventh consecutive trip to the AFC Championship game. Led by the legendary Andy Reid, the Chiefs delivered a commanding 23-14 Divisional Round victory over the upstart Houston Texans at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
The win not only highlighted the Chiefs’ postseason dominance but also marked a historic milestone. It was Reid’s 300th career victory as an NFL head coach.
With this feat, Reid became only the fourth head coach in NFL history to reach the 300-win threshold. He joined an elite group of coaching greats, which include Don Shula (347 wins), Bill Belichick (333) and George Halas (324).
After the game, Reid responded in a way only he could—with his trademark humility and humor. Not surprisingly, he downplayed the personal significance of the moment with a lighthearted quip.
“I joked to the guys that if I get a few more wins, I might be able to equal my weight,” he said, per NFL on CBS.
Of course, this brought laughter to everyone who heard it. It was a funny response, but it also embodied his character. Reid, of course, is famous for being a selfless leader who prioritizes team success over personal accolades. This was Coach Andy Reid at his humble and comical best.
In their win over Houston, the Chiefs relied on the steady brilliance of Patrick Mahomes to fend off the Texans’ strong challenge. The three-time Super Bowl champion threw a clutch 11-yard touchdown to Travis Kelce in the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 20-12.
Kelce, of course, was unstoppable as ever and was buoyed by Taylor Swift’s presence. He tallied 117 yards on seven catches, while Harrison Butker sealed the deal with a late 27-yard field goal.
As Reid and the Chiefs celebrate this milestone, the focus now shifts to hosting the AFC Championship game.
