Carlos Alcaraz’s younger brother Jaime grabbed headlines, as the 13-year-old won his first qualifying match at the Les Petits As. The event, also known as the Lacoste World Championship, is one of the most significant events played on the Junior European Tour.

The likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray have all played at this event before. Nadal, who became one of the icons of the sport, won the Les Petits As in 2000, winning 6-4, 6-1 over Julien Gely in the final. Other prominent winners of the event from the men’s side include Carlos Alcaraz’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, who won the event in 1994.

The World No. 3’s younger brother Jaime is currently participating in the International category and won his first qualifying match against Lithuania’s Erikas Balkunas 6-3, 6-2. His opponent for the next round will be Czech Republic’s Filip Sebek.

Alcaraz, who is the current World No. 3 played at the competition back in 2017 along with Holger Rune.

At only the age of 16 Carlos Alcaraz made his ATP debut in 2020. Before he turned 20 in May 2023, the Spaniard had one of the most decorated careers on the ATP Tour as a teenager. From the time of his debut, till he turned 20, the Spaniard had reached 12 career finals, winning 9 titles.

The tennis world got a sense of the Spanish teen’s talent from his victorious campaign at the 2022 US Open. What set him apart, was the fact that he looked physically and mentally competent enough to win five-set matches at such a young age. By the time his teens ended, he had also won three Masters 1000 titles and registered wins over the legends like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Presently. the Australian Open is the only Major that is missing from the Spnaiard’s impressive resume. At the 2025 edition, the third seed started his run with a 6-1, 7-5, 6-1 win over Alexander Shevchenko and followed it up with a 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 drubbing over Yoshihito Nishioka.

Alcaraz won his Round of 16 match against 15th seed Jack Draper, as the Brit retired from the match after the second set. He will next face either seventh seed Novak Djokovic or 24th seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals.
