Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have been one of the best duos in the NFL for many years now. The two have made numerous Pro Bowls while bringing the Kansas City Chiefs three Super Bowls.
Now, they are chasing their fourth championship and the first-ever three-peat in NFL history. The Chiefs have one more obstacle to get to the big game as Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills come into town for the AFC Championship Game.
Amid a 15-2 regular season and another deep playoff run, a big question remains: Will Kelce retire at the end of this season?
The 35-year-old had a down year statistically, at least to Kelce’s standards. He finished with 87 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns. Maybe it’s the way other teams guard him; perhaps it’s his age. But Kelce has been contemplating retirement throughout the season, with his most recent mention of it coming last week.
On Tuesday, Mahomes joined “The Drive with Carrington Harrison” on 95.6 The Fan. When asked if the AFC championship could be Kelce’s final game at Arrowhead Stadium, Mahomes gave his response.
“I mean, I have no idea,” Mahomes said. “He hasn’t said anything to me if he’s thinking that. I know he signed a two-year extension before the season. He seems like he still loves football, but he also has a great life as well.”

Then, Mahomes went on to share a strong message for Kelce regarding the upcoming game against the Bills.
Either way, I appreciate every single time I’ve stepped out onto that field with that guy, knowing that he’s a true legend of not only the Chiefs, the NFL,” Mahomes added. “If it’s his last game, let’s go out there and get him a win. If it’s not his last game, let’s go out and win anyway.”
Kelce still has one year remaining on his two-year contract following this season. If he elects to return, he could be eyeing a fifth Super Bowl ring. But if he retires, an acting career could be in his future.
