The Baltimore Ravens will now be in offseason mode after they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round by a final score of 27-25. Many Ravens fans will remember tight end Mark Andrews in that game as a player who fumbled the football and also dropped a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

Bleacher Report Thinks That the Baltimore Ravens Could Move On From Tight End Mark Andrews This Offseason

Andrews has been with the Ravens since the 2018 season and was a third-round selection (86th overall pick) in the 2018 NFL Draft. He played for the Oklahoma Sooners in college and came into the NFL the same year as Lamar Jackson was drafted into the NFL.

The Bleacher Report Scouting Department listed three potential cap casualties this offseason for each NFL team. One of the three casualties for the Ravens this offseason potentially could be Mark Andrews. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department said:

“Cutting Mark Andrews would be a shocking move. The 29-year-old tight end has been with the franchise since he was drafted in 2018 and he’s been a pivotal part of the offense ever since. The only reason this could be a real consideration is that the Ravens are going to be tight against the cap and moving on from Andrews creates $11 million in cap space. It’s the second-biggest number on the roster behind Marlon Humphrey.

Trading Andrews or even restructuring his contract are more likely answers. However, it’s not clear what the trade market would be for Andrews given his position and the fact that he’s approaching his age-30 season. With Isaiah Likely serving as a useful tight end the Ravens could feel like the cap savings would be better spent on pressing needs.”

The casualty will be worth $16.9 million. This past season with the Ravens, Andrews caught 55 passes for 673 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 12.2 yards per reception. Mark Andrews was targeted 69 times.

There is no doubt that there would be a market for him if he was released. Some teams need a tight end. Andrews is 29 years old and he still has juice left in the tank.

Isaiah Likely Ready To Take Over

Isaiah Likely is 24 years old and is ready to potentially take over as the starting tight end for the Baltimore Ravens in 2025. Likely this past season for the Ravens caught 42 passes for 477 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 11.4 yards per catch. Isaiah Likely was also targeted 58 times this season.

His emergence could be one of the reasons why the Ravens move on from the Oklahoma Sooners tight end this offseason. Likely was a fourth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft (139th overall) from Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
