The Dodgers officially announced the signing of Roki Sasaki on Wednesday, landing the prized Japanese right-hander on a minor league contract with a signing bonus reported to be $6.5 million.
Sasaki will be the 13th player born in Japan to play for the Dodgers, along with Dave Roberts (player and manager), Hideo Nomo, Masao Kida, Kazuhisa Ishii, Norihiro Nakamura, Takashi Saito, Hiroki Kuroda, Kenta Maeda, Yu Darvish, Yoshi Tsutsugo, Shohei Ohtani, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Baseball America on Wednesday ranked Sasaki as the No. 1 prospect in baseball.
The Dodgers introduced Sasaki in a press conference at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday at 3 p.m. PT, which will be televised by SportsNet LA.
